Schools/courses in India

Postby timpsila » Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:37 pm

Greetings,
I am thinking about taking an ayurvedic course or period of learning in India. I am currently a licensed acupuncturist in the US, but have always been interested in ayurveda due to my background. I have read some things about studying in Kerala, but would really like to find out more.
I am interested in: a decent course with practical time, a beautiful and peaceful environment in which i too can heal and be healthy, a place where i can be of service (such as at a temple, mosque, or school), and also with good transportation - as i will be travelling around the country after completion of the course.
hopefully this isn't too tall an order...but i am very flexible and excited to learn.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Tasneem Sheikh, L.Ac

Yeah if you want to learn about Ayurveda it means you have taken right decision. It is the oldest existing system of medical practice and is regarded by proponents as a complete way of life aimed at spiritual, mental, and social well-being as well as physical health. You will get good Ayurveda education in kerala there you will find lots of colleges and institutions who will teach you better.

AYURVEDA CERTIFICATE COURSES 1 mnth - 3 mnths - 6 mnths - 1 year. At OM AYURVEDA AND YOGA CENTRE

Ayurveda is an ancient healing system from India that dates back some 5,000 years or more. It encompasses a wide range of techniques to treat illness and encourage general wellbeing.
Includes:

* Herbs.
* Yoga.
* Acupuncture (Marmapuncture).
* Diet.
* Breathing Exercises.
* Massage.

Translated from Sanskrit, Ayurveda means 'the science of life'. The central philosophy is that the mind and body are one and the same, and that physical health can't be achieved without emotional, mental and spiritual health. Since Ayurveda is only now gaining some popularity in the West, the number of scientific studies has been small. From the evidence so far, it seems that the Ayurvedic approach can be effective in treating a number of disorders, including digestive problems and allergies.

Three Doshas, literally meaning 'fault'. They are :

* Vata.
* Pitta.
* Kapha.

These are a combination of five elements of nature Earth, Water, Fire, Esther and Air. The three doshas are energies, which regulate the life of all living being. The doshas determine and affect the biological, physiological and physio-pathological functions of the body, mind and consciousness. The composition of doshas varies from one individual to another.

An excess deficiency of Vata, Pitta or Kapha causes an imbalance and is believed to be the root cause of ailments, physical or mental in nature. This in turn can influence your physical wellbeing, appearance, personality and character. Using botanical preparations, natural herbal supplements and their oils, adopting time-honored traditional therapies, a perfect physical and mental harmony and balance are derived to ensure a healthy life.

We Provide Ayurvedic Treatments For :

* Cervical Spondylosis.
